Like to live like a local when you travel? With Untours, our support will offer a chance to get to know your own little slice of the Big Apple - the neighborhood where the Untour property is located. Currently, we have properties in three Manhattan neighborhoods:
- Upper West Side - a leafy residential uptown part of the city with great access to the sights but a bit less bustle than other areas.
- Midtown Manhattan - the epitome of bustle within walking distance of Times Square, Central Park, and nearly every other NY iconic experience.
- Other options include Chelsea and Upper East Side. If you don’t see the locale you are looking for here, give us a call. We can do a custom search for you based on a New York neighborhood you prefer!.
To start your visit you will have an orientation session with our Local Experts, life-long New Yorkers who can't wait to share with you their knowledge of New York. Before you travel you’ll have plenty of time to choose your Local Experts, and before you leave we will survey you on your interests and preferences whether they be theater, music, dining, museums, shopping or a bit of each. With the Local Experts advice you will feel like a life-long New Yorker, both when you are out and about in the City, or in your chosen neighborhood.
The written guides mailed to you before you depart will profile, "Your Neighborhood in a Nutshell" - the gourmet food shops, friendly diners, best places to catch a cab or buy a bagel, so you will feel at home even before you get there. In addition, we know how to ask you the right questions in advance so your Local Experts, can tailor your orientation in a way that lets you have the Big Apple in just the bite-size portions that suit you.
Sightseeing thoughout the City:
One could spend a lifetime trying to see all the sights here. In brief, a good overview of the classical tourist attraction is available via The Grey Line tour (double-decker buses). Also the Circle Line boat ride is a great way to see the skyline. The typical list of must-see's includes: the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, the Brooklyn Bridge, Coney Island, United Nations Headquarters, Times Square, Grand Central Station, the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, China Town, the Bronx Zoo, Greenwich Village and window shopping along 5th Avenue.
Things to do and see:
- The tip of the iceberg includes NYC as a 'foodie' heaven, from the ethnic restaurants (everything from Afghan to New Orleans), to the fresh air farmer's markets and neighborhood groceries (Zabar's and Fairways, Gourmet Garage).
- Performing arts: jazz, opera, ballet. theater, music, wave at America from outside the studios of MTV, ESPN or the Today Show.

- Visual Arts: from cutting edge Chelsea galleries to Museum Mile, to hundreds of small specialty museums, there is probably no spot on earth more infused with art for the eye.
